WHAT IS SYMBOLISM?
Symbolism is a powerful and pervasive literary and artistic device used to convey deeper meanings, emotions, and ideas beyond the surface level of a text, artwork, or cultural practice. It involves the use of symbols, which are objects, images, or actions that represent abstract concepts or themes. These symbols carry a range of meanings, often influenced by cultural, historical, or personal contexts, making them open to interpretation by the audience.

WHAT IS THE UNCONSCIOUS
The unconscious is a fundamental concept in psychology, referring to a part of the human mind that operates outside of conscious awareness. It is a vast reservoir of thoughts, feelings, memories, and desires that influence our behavior, emotions, and decision-making, often without our conscious realization. Developed by Sigmund Freud, the theory of the unconscious suggests that much of our mental life is driven by processes we are not consciously aware of.
The unconscious mind holds thoughts and emotions that may be uncomfortable, repressed, or socially unacceptable, making it difficult for individuals to access or understand them through conscious introspection. Dreams, slips of the tongue, and certain behaviors are considered manifestations of the unconscious attempting to express itself. Freud believed that exploring and understanding the unconscious could help bring repressed thoughts and conflicts into conscious awareness, leading to personal growth and healing.
In addition to Freud's psychoanalytic theory, other schools of psychology, such as Carl Jung's analytical psychology, have also emphasized the significance of the unconscious. Jung proposed the collective unconscious, which contains universal, shared experiences and symbols passed down through generations. The unconscious, in various psychological frameworks, remains a dynamic and intricate realm that shapes our perceptions, motivations, and inner world, despite being largely hidden from our conscious awareness.
